"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance."

Mr. Intellectual
1996
You walk on glory’s wing skipping gracefully on high
I hang on your mere thought mesmerizing all the while
And you walk right past me like a wrapper on the road
What I wouldn’t give to walk in her shoes, but she must carry a heavy load
She doesn’t love you, there is no heart upon her sleeve
Too blind to see the truth, no one else sees you like I see
You with your intellect and a thrill upon your mind
Not to be so direct, Im only half a step behind
You talk right through me with your brilliant expertise
What I wouldn’t give to lie in her bed, she must really know how to please
She doesn’t love you and everyone can see
Too deaf to hear the truth, no one can read you like I read
Mr. Intellectual, loves found all within your mind
Mr. Misdirectional, Do you dare to seek the truth you’ll find
Everything’s not sexual, everything’s not bump and grind
Mr. Intellectual, do you dare to read me
She doesn’t love you and everyone can see
Too blind to face the fact, she just isn’t me
High maintenance women ... that is what ths is about... sort of. This song was spurned by a movie. In that movie the guy is so smart, except he has blinders on when it comes to the womanhe is dating. She is gorgeous! She is also rude, needy, mean, and so on. However, she could get anything she wanted from him just by being sexy and loving toward him. The girl that was his equal match, but not as pretty, was right in front of him the whole time. Blah blah blah ... typical love story stuff.
