Last Breath

  2003

Ain’t it funny how, we complain about

All those little things that don’t mean shit, and

Rather than fix it, we just sift through it

Picking out the best parts, and to the rest say screw it

But then a friend walks by, with a smile a half-mile wide

Drops a bomb and says, “Girl, see you on the other side”

It aint easy, and sure the fuck aint fair

God must be laughing to himself up there

One thing he’s failed to realize …

I would sacrifice, sacrifice, and sacrifice myself for you

Trade my place to save your faith and easily walk in your shoes

The cross we bare is simply weight not carried by our friends

So the joke is on him

For I give my last breath to you

So let Him tip his cup, he’ll learn soon enough

What he throws around here is gonna make its way on back up

And as time passes on, he’s got no one left to pick on

He’ll look down and frown, cause in our hearts you live on

It aint easy, and sure the fuck aint fair

God must be laughing to himself upstairs

One thing he’s failed to realize …

I would sacrifice, sacrifice, and sacrifice myself for you

Trade my place to save your faith and easily walk in your shoes

The cross we bare is simply weight not carried by our friends

So the joke is on him

For I give my last breath to you

Aint it funny how, we complain about

All those little things that don’t mean shit

A good friend came up to me one day and dropped the bomb that he only had a few months left to live. I was pretty upset by the news. I got really pissed off at God, as I always did back then when something tragic happened. This song is pretty much me giving God the middle finger. I know, real classy Rhea. Don't fret because God gave me the finger right back. It turns out, that THIS friend was actually lying to everyone to get attention. He wasn't even sick. His wife had just left him for compulsive lying and cheating. I have a feeling he was going to start asking people for money. Nice friend, huh? If you were wondering, no - we are no longer friends.
