"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance."

Imminent Desire
1997
As I sit here in the background I see you smile from miles away
And you ignite a dead fire inside, my soul left in disarray
And I imagine your hands upon me, and they weave me like a spread
My heart’s tapestry is left hanging with a worn unraveled thread
And I want you to pull me, entangle me in your touch
Feel your hands upon me, feel these threads of lust
I need to feel the fire that I lost some years ago
My passion for you burns here in my imminent desire
I find my mind about you wondering in dreams that overcome my fears
Like a haunting ghost of ecstasy that dries away my tears
And I see you make love to me, your sweat falling on my head
It’s not the hard strength of your body, but the reality I dread
And I want you to kiss me, lavish me with your love
Feel your breath upon my shoulder, hear you cry to the heavens above
I need to feel the fire that I lost some years ago
My passion for you burns here in my imminent desire
Love can be really cruel. Here it is, several years after the fact, and I found myself longing for the person that I loved so very much. Funny thing about love though, once you heal your broken heart, you do find love again. That doesn't mean haunting dreams like this one don't pop up now and again though.
